CYS Fall Basketball Program

September 2025 - MARCH 2026

CYS Basketball is open to kids from Kindergarten thru High School

Instructional basketball for K-1 grade boys and girls. An introduction to the game of basketball by teaching basketball fundamentals and rules of the game through fun drills and games. Evaluations for TK participation must be cleared through the Basketball Commissioner. 

Instructional basketball for 2nd-3rd grade boys and girls. This program is designed to continue teaching basketball fundamentals and introducing team concepts and rules of the game through more advanced drills. The program is designed for all skill levels. 

Instructional Practices are weekly on Sundays.

In February/March 2026 - there are normally a few jamborees hosted by partner Nikkei clubs on weekends. These jamborees are optional but participation provides a great opportunity for the kids to try out their new skills. 

  • Kinder and 1st grade : 60 minute practice weekly

    • Price: $225.00

  • 2nd and 3rd Grade: 90 minute practice weekly

    • Price: $250.00

  • Dates: The program will run for 8 weeks, starting 10/12/2025 and ending 12/14/2025. No class on 11/2 and 11/30. Age groups and times are as follows:

    • Kinder (Co-Ed): TBD

    • First Grade (Co-Ed): TBD

    • 2nd & 3rd Grade Girls: TBD

    • 2nd & 3rd Grade Boys: TBD

  • Location: Santa Clara Youth Activity Center (YAC) : 2450 Cabrillo Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95051

Session Information - League Divisions

The recreational program is designed to develop and improve the fundamental skills taught in our instructional program on to the court. Not only will the kids get in-game experience, but will also learn teamwork and a sense of community.

Dates, Times, and Location:

  • Mass practice will be held on Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21.

  • The season includes 8 games in a 10 week season running from September 2025 to the beginning of March 2026.

  • Practices are held on Saturdays beginning October 4 in San Jose or Santa Clara depending on gym availability. Practice times are TBD.  

  • Games will be played on Sundays beginning Dec 7 or Dec 14. Home games will be in San Jose or Santa Clara. Away games are in Mountain View, San Mateo, or San Francisco.

  • There is also a mix of tournaments which take place during the season hosted by other Nikkei-based organizations part of the NYBA (Nikkei Youth Basketball League). 

Cost: $375 (jersey included)

Equipment

We have tried to limit the need to purchase equipment.

  • Basketball:

    • Size 27.5 for TK-2nd grade Boys and Girls

    • Size 28.5 for 3rd-5th grade Boys and 3rd-8th grade Girls

    • Size 29.5 for 6th-8th grade Boys

  • Water bottle for water break
