Dance Program
Fall 2024 & Spring 2025
CYS Dance program is open to kids ages 3 - 11 and offers an opportunity to learn fundamentals of different dance genres. The goal of the program is to instill a love and appreciation for dancing, as well as developing new friendships through the course of the dance season.
For Fall, we are offering Hula. This beginner hula program shares stories from Hawaiian culture.
Dates: 9/20/2024 - 12/6/2024
Times: 4:15 - 5:00 PM for the Keiki class; 5:00 - 5:45 PM for the Kaikamahine class
Groups will be split by age by instructor
Cost: $210

For Spring, we are offering Ballet/Tap. The class will end with a performance at Nikkei Matsuri and Pancake Breakfast.
Dates: Fridays 1/17/2025 - 4/18/2025 (No class on 2/21)
Times: Classes will be 45 minutes. Your child will either be placed in a class based on their age, so either 4:30 - 5:15 pm or 5:15 - 6:30 pm.

Your dancer will need to wear a leotard and tights (any color), and have their hair pulled back. CYS maintains a supply of gently used tap and ballet shoes in a variety of sizes, which we will bring to the first class for your dancer to try on and use for the season. If you opt to purchase your own, please purchase pink ballet slippers and black tap shoes (that tie in the front - no buckles or Mary Jane style, please).

ROLE OF PARENTS
All families are asked to download the SportsEngine app to receive the most up to date information and messages. Parents are allowed to watch the class through the window at the dance studio. You may also drop off and pick up your dancer. One of the CYS dance commissioners will be present for each class should you need to contact us for anything. Please keep your child home if experiencing COVID symptoms.
